Led Coaxial Light source provides a type of diffuse illumination created from an internal source. This illumination type is to apply a sheet to the object and collect how the light is reflected, scattered, or absorbed. It allows the light to deflect downward onto the imaging plane through a 50% beamsplitter. Types of illuminations

Directional Illumination

It is an ideal source of illumination from single or multiple sources. They use lenses that help to focus or spread out illumination. They help focus assemblies, Fiber optic light guides, LED spotlights, and incandescent light. Mostly applicable for inspection and measurement of matte and flat objects.

Pros- It is flexible, bright, beneficial for various applications, and easily fitted into different packaging.

Cons-Shadowing and glare.

Brightfield/Backlight

It is used to silhouette opaque objects as it helps the thing be lit from behind.  Also, they are helpful for imaging through transparent objects. The valuable products of these types of illumination are Fiber optic backlights and LED backlights.

Moreover, they are applicable in numerous applications like edge detection, targets and test patterns, measurement of opaque objects, and sorting of translucent colored objects

Pros– they are high contrast for edge detection.

Cons– it eliminates surface detail.

Darkfield

It allows the light to enter a transparent or translucent object with the help of the edges perpendicular to the lens. Useful Products of this type of illumination are light line guides, fiber optic darkfield attachment, and laser line generators. They are used for glass and plastic inspection

Pros– they are High contrast of internal and surface details. It also enhances cracks, scratches, and bubbles in transparent objects.

Cons– it has poor edge contrast and is not valid for opaque objects.

Polarized Light

It is a type of directional illumination that uses polarized light to eliminate specularities and hot spots. Useful Products of this illumination are Polarization filters and Polarizer/ Analyzer adapters. People use it for measurements and inspection of shiny objects

Pros- it offers even illumination over the whole surface of the object under polarization. Decreases glare to make surface features discernable.

Cons- after the polarization filter is placed overall intensity of light is reduced in front of the light source and imaging lens.
